Vice President of Compensation and Benefits, The E.W. Scripps Company

V Kontopos is vice president of compensation and benefits at The E.W. Scripps Company, where he is responsible for maximizing the value of the company’s rewards programs by designing and implementing compensation and benefits strategies that meet the needs of a dynamic and diverse workforce. This includes variable pay practices, incentive compensation design and executive compensation.

V joined Scripps in August 2008 within the finance department. In this role, he focused on financial reporting, Sarbanes Oxley compliance and budgeting and planning. In 2012, he moved to the compensation department where he manages a team focused on equity and incentive practices. More recently, his responsibilities have expanded to include oversight of health and welfare benefits, which includes active employees, wellness initiatives and retiree benefits.

V spent the first four years of his career in multiple capacities at Deloitte. He worked on various audit and tax engagements for publicly-traded and privately held companies.

V currently serves on the board of trustees for two Cincinnati-area non-profits: Shelterhouse, a local organization serving the homeless in the Greater Cincinnati area, and UpSpring, a local organization serving the educational needs of homeless children and youth.
