Donald Sandel

Associate Director, Talent Development, Astellas Pharma

Mr. Sandel has a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University.  Since graduation, he has amassed a number of highly specialized certificates in Human Performance Improvement, Training, Leadership Development, and is currently working on a certificate in Applied Positive Psychology.

Don’s expertise is in the field leadership development.  He is a sought after speaker on the topic, often speaking at local and national conferences, and has been published nationally.  He is currently building leadership programs for Astellas Pharma US, focusing on the organization’s growing cadre of managers, senior leaders and high potentials.

As Director of IPC International Training & Professional Development Team, Don led a team of nine whose focus was the development of employees, management and leadership groups.

Don also led training teams for United Airlines and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, Inc.  He has also consulted for such organizations as NWU Psychiatry Dept, Chicago Historical Museum, Uptown National Bank, Profitability, and United Healthcare. 

He is active in ATD, CCATD, and the Executive Learning Exchange and is on the board of the Liautaud Institute, a neuroscience think-tank.  Don is also a volunteer with his church, community, and an avid reader, often found reading books about the American Revolution.
