Sally Hogshead teaches audiences how to communicate and add value in the first 9 seconds. Participants learn how to fascinate, to become more memorable and valued.  Sally reveals the secret based on her groundbreaking national study on the science of fascination. She discovered that the human brain is hardwired to focus on seven specific “triggers” that you will learn how to harness attention using Sally’s Fascinate system.

Join us for this powerful, high-energy presentation, filled with interaction. Each participant will take Sally’s complimentary assessment to better discover your own unique advantage to be heard and remembered.

10:35-11:10 AM
Presenter:
Colleen Fuller, Head of Talent and Experience Transformation, VistaPrint

We will discuss how Vistaprint has taken a new approach to leading HR by thinking about traditional programs and services as products within an employee experience portfolio.  A critical piece of this transformation starts the moment a candidate interacts with Vistaprint, because after all, the experience of what it will feel like to work there starts well before the first day on the job. Vistaprint purposefully and thoughtfully builds employee experiences into the candidate experience to give the potential employee a taste of how they operate and allows hiring managers to assess how they might align with the cultural values.

You will learn:

  • The way that Vistaprint’s Talent + Experience team is transforming the role of HR and adding significant value to the organization.
  • How Vistaprint has productized the employee experience, by defining outcomes and co-creating ‘the how’ with the organization to deliver faster and more innovatively.
  • Practical ways to bring your culture and employee experiences right to your candidates.

BP, Equifax, Theranos, Uber, United Airlines, Wells Fargo… Except perhaps for their competitors, no one finds joy or entertainment in the scandals and preventable disasters that have befallen these organizations. Yet, if we’re not mindful of lessons they’ve learned the hard way, lessons that in each case materially involved HR, we’re likely to relive some of the same mistakes, at great personal cost.

This isn’t your typical feel good, syrupy conference session. Rather, it addresses some of the hard realities facing HR executives, and those who aspire to that role today, presented by someone who has been there, done that, and written the book.

Bill Catlette will challenge you to:

  • Become a more respected and courageous leader by thinking now, before a crisis hits, about the things that you’re willing to go to the mat for
  • Redefine the role of HR in your organization and improve your own career arc by developing a reputation as a compassionate, competent, no-nonsense professional skilled in building positive cultures and leading people

“Overcoming resistance to change” – the holy grail of change management for the HR leader!  So often, we start out with the best intentions to steer people toward brighter horizons, and then run into the wall of resistance.  We can transition from feeling like we’re working “with” and “for” people, to doing something “to” or “against” or even “in spite of” “them”!  Yet, what can we control?  Only ourselves!

What “looks like” resistance in others is an opportunity for us as leaders to ensure that we are giving people what they need to “get it” (cognitively - focusing on the “Head” – the “what and why” of the change), to “want it” (emotionally - focusing on the “Heart” – the “who” of the change) and to be able to “do it” (behaviorally - focusing on the “Hands” – the “how” of the change).  Agile leaders proactively and intentionally “enlighten the Head,” “engage the Heart,” and “equip the Hands” to build relationships and get results.

Join us for a highly interactive keynote presentation in which you’ll learn actionable strategies to persuade others to explore and adopt new ways of working, which is mission-critical in this age of disruption across industries around the world.

Together we will:

  • Diagnose your own style of influence, learn about other styles, and give and receive coaching hints to adapt for increased effectiveness
  • Obtain research-based insights about the preferred influence styles of key stakeholders at different levels of the organizational hierarchy, enabling you to flex your approach for maximum impact
  • Reframe resistance from enemy to ally, enabling you to leverage resistance as a powerful source of information to utilize to engage for change up, down, across, inside and outside your workplace, for the benefit of your organization, team, and career

From Atlassian’s founding 16 years ago, its executives and employees have lived by values that include encouraging everyone to “be the change they seek.”  Beyond simply identifying problems for someone else to solve or pointing out areas ripe for innovation, Atlassians themselves are expected to devise innovative ways to make their jobs, projects, team, even company-- better.  Managers continually look for ways to tap team members’ potential, to help them stretch and flourish.

You will learn:

  • The business impact when employees connect so overtly to a company’s mission
  • Three key relationship-oriented attributes and three key task oriented attributes that drive teams (and individuals) to perform at their best
  • Tools and practices that HR can adopt to support a research project
